Between Adventures IDLE Builds & Skill Tree Guide

Choose a useful direction for your next session, with clear limits on what has been verified.

Updated for Early AccessHotfix #5Last verified:
Quick answer

Use a gathering focus when materials are the blocker and a combat focus when a required fight is the blocker. Exact “best builds” are currently unverified. Read the current node effects and prerequisites before spending points.

Choose a direction, not a claimed meta build

A best early-game build needs a verified tree, point costs and comparable results. Those are not established by the public sources reviewed here. Use these directions to choose what to inspect in your own tree; they are not exact point allocations.

Decision framework

Gathering focus

Best for
A session spent collecting materials.
Priority
Compare reachable gathering-speed and double-drop perks against your actual activity.
Why
These perk types are described by the official store page. Their value depends on the work you run.
Avoid
Buying a bonus for an activity you are not using.
When to switch focus
When missing materials stop being the immediate blocker.
Decision framework

Combat focus

Best for
An encounter that is holding up your objective.
Priority
Identify the failing part of the fight, then inspect relevant reachable combat perks.
Why
A targeted change gives you something concrete to compare in the next attempt.
Avoid
Treating a generic damage increase as proof that a survival problem is solved.
When to switch focus
When the target is cleared or gathering becomes the next bottleneck.
Decision framework

Production-led planning

Best for
Turning gathered materials into a usable upgrade.
Priority
Align your gathering activity with the ingredients of one selected recipe.
Why
The game supports gathering alongside crafting; a shared goal makes that combination useful.
Avoid
Assuming a specific crafting node exists without reading the tree.
When to switch focus
Once you have the item you set out to make.
Decision framework

Offline preparation

Best for
Leaving a useful task running while away.
Priority
Choose the task first; evaluate only bonuses that apply to it.
Why
Offline progression is confirmed, but its complete formula is not verified here.
Avoid
Buying a supposed “offline multiplier” from an unverified build guide.
When to switch focus
When you return and can compare actual rewards.

How the skill tree works

The official description presents an interconnected tree with passive perks for gathering and combat. Connections matter: inspect the prerequisite route and total commitment, not only the final perk.

  1. Choose the activity you need to improve.
  2. Read the complete tooltip of a relevant accessible node.
  3. Check the route and cost shown in your game.
  4. Use the hold-to-acquire interaction when prompted.
  5. Compare the activity before and after the change.

Early skill point priorities

Ask this firstIf yesIf no
Does this perk help my current task?Read the prerequisites and full effect.Keep looking before spending.
Can I explain the problem it should solve?Compare an attempt before and after.Observe the activity first.
Have I checked the respec terms?Make the commitment with that cost in mind.Treat the point choice as potentially costly to undo.

Do not assume free resets. A respec price and restrictions have not been reliably verified in this review.

Gathering or combat?

If you can already complete the relevant battle and need materials, inspect gathering bonuses. If you have the materials and usable gear but the required encounter still fails, inspect the fight and relevant combat options. This is an editorial way to prioritize effort, not a claim that either branch is always stronger.

Use the skills guide for material planning and the combat checklist to identify a fight-specific problem.

Build mistakes to avoid

  • Copying a demo build without checking whether its nodes and costs still match.
  • Choosing a perk by its name without checking its complete effect.
  • Spending toward a distant node while ignoring the connecting path.
  • Assuming a higher sale value proves an equipment piece fits your build.
Why there is no clickable tree yetA build planner would need the complete current node graph, costs, dependencies and effects. Showing a made-up graph would make point choices less reliable.

Common questions

What is the best build?

A universal best build is currently unverified. Match your direction to the current blocker; the cards above explain what to inspect without inventing nodes or results.

Why does clicking a skill not buy it?

Hotfix #5 added a hold-to-acquire prompt for accessible nodes. Read that prompt and also check the prerequisites and points displayed in your tree.

Can I respec for free?

A current reset cost and its restrictions are not verified here. Check the in-game reset information before making an allocation you expect to undo.
